Google Student Researcher Program 2026

Applications are now open for the 2026 Google Student Researcher Program. This program supports academic collaboration by bringing students into Google research projects that align with the company’s priorities in scientific and technological innovation. Participants can join teams across Google in research, engineering, and science-focused roles, contributing to projects that tackle real-world, large-scale challenges.

As a Student Researcher, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on exploratory projects that advance the state of the art across a wide range of research areas. Students collaborate with Google teams to explore new ideas, solve complex problems, and help shape breakthrough technologies.

The program is open to students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program. Project length and location vary depending on team needs and student availability. You must reside in one of the approved countries for the full duration of the program. When you apply, you’ll be considered for opportunities across Google Research, Google DeepMind, Google Cloud, and other research teams to find the best match for your skills and interests.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in at least one computer science area such as NLP, HCI, generative media, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, optimization, quantum information science, data science, or software engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time at a university in EMEA and planning to return after the internship.
  • Prior research experience (internships, full-time roles, or lab work).
  • Contributions to research communities, including publications in conferences or journals.
  • Experience with general-purpose programming languages like C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Go, or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Work on research projects aimed at solving large-scale, real-world problems.

Applicants may indicate preferred locations from the following: Zürich (Switzerland), Berlin or Munich (Germany), Grenoble or Paris (France), Accra (Ghana), Nairobi (Kenya), or London (UK).
