FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2026–2027(Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme a fully funded postgraduate scholarship jointly implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Government of Hungary.

The programme offers qualified candidates from eligible developing countries the opportunity to pursue English-taught Master of Science (MSc) degrees at selected Hungarian universities in areas related to agriculture, food security, and environmental sustainability.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship is fully funded and covers:

• Full tuition and academic fees
• Monthly living allowance
• Accommodation in student housing
• Health insurance

Please note: The scholarship does not provide financial support for family members.

Available Master’s Programmes

Applicants may apply for one of the following English-taught MSc programmes:

• Agricultural Biotechnology
  Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), Szent István Campus, Gödöllő
• Animal Nutrition and Feed Safety Engineering
  Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), Kaposvár Campus
• Plant Protection
  University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be citizens and residents of eligible developing countries
• Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
• Demonstrate proficiency in English
• Be in good physical and mental health
• Show strong motivation and relevance of the programme to national development needs

Preference may be given to candidates under 30 years of age.

📌 Important Note:
All documents must be submitted in English and sent as one complete application package. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two stages:

1. FAO Pre-Screening: Applications are reviewed and shortlisted by FAO.
2. University Selection: Final admission decisions are made by the host universities, which may include interviews or written assessments.
