The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES) 2026 is a prestigious, fully funded scholarship programme offering international students the opportunity to pursue one year of full-time postgraduate study in Ireland. Managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) on behalf of the Irish Government’s Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, this scholarship recognises high-achieving students from outside the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) who wish to study in one of Ireland’s globally recognised higher education institutions.


What the Scholarship Offers

The GOI-IES award includes:

Full tuition fee waiver for one academic year
€10,000 living stipend to support study and basic living expenses

The award is intended for students enrolling in full-time Master’s, Postgraduate Diploma, or PhD programmes in Ireland.


Who Can Apply

To be eligible for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship 2026:

  • You must be a non-EU/EEA applicant (i.e., your country of domicile is outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the UK).
  • You must have an offer of admission (conditional or final) from an eligible Irish higher education institution at the time of applying.
  • Previous recipients of this scholarship are generally not eligible to apply again.

Successful candidates are selected based on the overall quality of their applications and academic achievement.

Applications are submitted online through the official Government of Ireland Scholarship portal each year.
